Pilot Season: Kevin Bacon to Star in Fox's Serial Killer Drama From Kevin Williamson

Let the Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon extend to TV.

The Golden Globe winner will star in Kevin Williamson's Fox drama pilot about a massive serial killer plot, TVGuide.com has confirmed. Bacon will play a retired FBI profiler who gets drawn in when a heinous serial killer uses technology to assemble a cult of serial killers. The news was first reported by Deadline.

But there's a catch: The season will be shorter. It looks as though the actor, 53, will only sign on for 15 episodes per season, which is significantly less than the usual 22.

Bacon hasn't had a regular series gig since Guiding Light in the '80s. He's directed a handful of episodes of his wife Kyra Sedgwick's TNT drama The Closer.

The as yet untitled serial killer drama will mark a return to more adult fare for Williamson, who wrote the Scream movie franchise and more recently co-created The CW's Vampire Diaries and Secret Circle. He wrote the pilot, which Marcos Siega will direct.
